Sephora VIB Sale: Wishlist and Recommendations

I shopped Nordstrom Rack's Clear the Rack sales (as expected...) and went to Desert Hills Premium Outlet with my mom on Sunday (shopping haul coming soon!). On Saturday night, I watched Lady Gaga's performance at Coachella on YouTube live (Coachella at home!), which started at 11:30PM and lasted 1.5 hours. I LOVED every second of it and could only imagine how amazing her World Tour is going to be!

But today, we are talking about the Sephora Spring VIB sale, which is finally here! Is it just me, or is this year's sale much later than normal and Sephora seems less organized? As a VIB Rouge member (who spend way too much at Sephora), I didn't get this card in the mail until last Friday and the email came out on Sunday afternoon. Tsk Tsk Sephora...

Before we jump into the sales, I thought I would share with you a little bit of my beauty journey. I have been a VIB Rouge member for the last 3 years, but the number of my Sephora shopping trips has drastically decreased over the years. Especially this year, I've only bought two nail polishes (on sale for $5 each!) so far. It was partially due to my pursuit of clean and natural beauty products as well as adopting a more minimal, "buy less, buy better" approach to shopping. It's funny it wasn't until last year that I realized I HAVE ENOUGH and started giving away products to family and friends. I have also found a lot of natural and more affordable products at ULTA, TJ Maxx and Anthropologie, where I get my skincare products nowadays. Since I started my journey in 2014, my skincare products are now 80-90% clean (like Andalou Naturals, Juice Beauty, French Girl Organics).

However, my makeup is another story and probably only 20-30% clean. It takes time to find natural alternatives that perform as well as cult favorites. Cute (Benefit, Too Faced) or luxe packaging (Burberry, Dior) always draws me in and I convince myself that I NEED it. Lastly, with YouTube and other social media, sometimes I feel left out if I don't have the new launches that everyone is raving about (like the Becca highlighter below). So now, while I continuously search for natural alternatives, I still allow myself to buy non-natural makeup, but limit to only a few pieces. It's like satisfying certain cravings (like fried chicken!) while maintaining a balanced diet. After all, makeup is meant to be enjoyed :). Moving on to the sale!

Shopping Tips:

• Use rebate websites, such as Ebates and Mr. Rebates, when shopping online (currently 4% rebates).
• Check out Sephora inside JCPenney. I personally like them better than Sephora nowadays, shorter lines and the sales associates are more friendly and less pushy. They also carry different sets sometimes.
• Buy gift cards online. I use Gift Card Granny to search for gift cards. Look for e-gift cards so that you can use right away.
• Sephora inside JCPenney accepts Sephora and JCPenney gift cards. JCPenney gift cards will usually have bigger savings.
• You can also order from Sephora at JCPenney online.
• Stock up on products you use often or repurchase (self-tanner for example). Figure out how many you will need until the 20% off sale in November. 

Note:
Not related to Sephora, but for those Charlotte Tilbury fans out there (myself included), I just found out that you can finally get the Matte Revolution Lipstick in Pillow Talk in US (from Nordstrom)! Her lip liner in Pillow Talk has been my favorite lip liner for years and I'm so excited for this lipstick! There is also a Nordstrom-exclusive Instant Look in a Palette, which seems to have darker colors than her other palettes in the past. I will certainly be picking both of these up this week!
