I spent my weekend recovering from travelling and shopped the Victoria Beckham for Target collection on Sunday. I will be updating you once I receive all my items in the mail, but today, I'm sharing with you where and what I ate in Texas last week.
This post is possibly the longest (and most time-consuming) I've written so far. But I really enjoyed writing about my experiences at these places and I hope you'll enjoy reading it :).
Power Plant Texas Grill (Seguin, TX)
The old municipal power plant is located in Seguin, TX, by State Hwy 123. You get a glimpse of the Saffold Dam on the Guadalupe River, which runs through Texas onto the Gulf of Mexico.

The Alamo (San Antonio, TX)
Before heading to the River Walk for dinner, we made a quick visit to the Alamo. The Alamo, originally Mission San Antonio de Valero, was one of the five missions established by Spanish missionaries in the 18th century along the San Antonio River. It has seen many historical events, including Mexico declaring independence from Spain in 1821 and the famous Battle of Alamo in 1836, which was part of Texas Revolution to gain its independence from Mexico. You can read more about the history here.
Then we walked to the River Walk.

River Walk (San Antonio, TX)
The San Antonio River Walk is so beautiful and I've heard about it from my coworkers so many times that I'm glad I finally went this time. The dark green water and the tour boat remind me a little of the Blue Bayou Restaurant (which I love) in the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland.
We had Mexican food for dinner. I had a 32oz Dos-a-Rita (same picture in my "About Me" Page) and Beef Fajitas. Again, I freaked out a little bit (okay more than a little) about the flies and giant bees, but the ducks are adorable and they hop on shore all the time. People, including myself, fed them tortilla chips (although there are signs not to). I highly recommend checking out the River Walk next time you are near San Antonio.
South Congress (Austin, TX)
On Friday afternoon, I stopped by San Marcos Premium Outlet (stay tuned for the next post) and drove up to Austin to see a college girl friend. Both tired at the end of the work week, we decided to get coffee first. We went to SoCo (South Congress Ave) and both got the seasonal "Coconut Matcha Latte" from Jo's Coffee (menu here). This place has the famous street graffiti that people line up to take pictures in front of.
Austin at Night |
For dinner, we crossed the street to Lucky Robot Japanese Kitchen (Full menu here, Brunch and Happy Hour menu here).
We ordered Japanese Devil's Tail (left), which was a habenero-infused sake drink, served in frozen cucumber shooters. It was such an unique and fun drink and I highly recommend it! People who sat down at the next table even asked us what it was.
For food, we shared a spicy chicken bowl, electric eel and salmon nasu maki rolls (right). The food was amazing and it was so hard to choose, because everything sounds so good! I can't wait to go back again and check out their Happy Hour or Brunch next time.
24 Diner (Austin, TX)
For my last meal in Texas, we went to the 24 Diner (open 24 hours) on 6th Street. Happy Hour is weekdays 7AM - 7PM and you can find the menu here. My Saturday Brunch included a Bloody Mary and a Chicken Salad.
There were also many shops in the area (including Lush and Anthropologie), so we shopped around while waiting for our number ;).
This was certainly the most fun work trip I've been on, thanks to the awesome people I traveled with! In my next post, I will be sharing with you what I bought from this trip.
Thank you for stopping by and have a nice day!
