Shop: TJ Maxx Spring Fling Event

Hello friends, how was your weekend?

My mom and I woke up super early on Saturday and went to the Spring Fling Event at TJ Maxx. As their cardholder, I have received many member-only event invites like this in the past. I never thought about going because it always started at 8:30AM on the weekend. After seeing this sign there for a while and asking the sales associates, I decided to check it out this time and brought my mom, who is also a card-holder.

We got there at 8:40AM and there was the breakfast table as soon as we walked in. There were water, coffee, orange juice and Krispy Kreme donuts. I wish they had some healthier options, maybe whole-wheat bagels instead of donuts. So I just had some coffee.
My comfy shopping outfit: Wildfox "Congratulations to me, I made it out of bed" jumper (described the day perfectly!), black leggings, slip-on espadrilles and my favorite shopping tote, the Neverfull.

We showed our TJX credit cards, filled out the raffle forms and received our free infuser water bottle. Only TJX rewards members can enter the raffle. I talked to a sales associate and she said probably only 20 people are rewards members, so the chances were pretty good!

The actual shopping is like any other day, except a lot fewer people and more sales associates. You really get a chance to talk to them, ask them questions about any product. All the sales associates I talked to were very friendly.

They raffle every half an hour, starting at 9AM. The prize is a $20 TJ Maxx Gift Card and the winner must be present to win. Guess who was the lucky winner that got a gift card at 10AM? ;)
For the last drawing at 10:30AM, they had to pick the winners 3 times as the first two people called already left. I had my mom wait until the last winner came to claim the prize :P

Overall, I enjoyed the event and would recommend it as long as you don't mind waking up early for it. Maybe bring a healthy snack, if you don't want donuts. We were definitely very energized after (thanks to the coffee!) and got our grocery shopping done. Then, we headed home, had some lunch and took a nap! ;)

Now onto the goodies I got:

  • Soothe by Apana Spinal Groove Massage Roller (on clearance, $13): I don't have a foam roller and this one looks like it would be great for my back.
  • Avalon Organics Intense Defense Detoxifying Towelettes (on clearance, $3): I love the orange smell and this is a much, much cheaper alternative to the OLE HENRIKSEN Truth On the Glow Cleansing Cloths ($30), which I used to love.
  • Free infuser water bottle
  • ANDALOU Naturals Citrus Verbena Body Lotion ($3.99): Matching lotion to my day-time shower gel.
  • ANDALOU Naturals Lavender Thyme Shower Gel ($3.99): A backup of my night-time shower gel, as I've been mostly showering at night nowadays. Please tell me I'm not the only one who has a day-time shower gel and night-time shower gel...
  • Lastly, the most expensive purchase, a 14KT gold necklace ($199.99)
In case you don't know, TJ Maxx stores do carry fine jewelry! Besides sterling silver and gold plated sterling silver, but they carry a small selection of genuine pearls, 14KT gold and some gemstones. I have not seen diamonds in stores (online yes), only Cubic Zirconia.

Anyways, back to the necklace: I really liked that it was 16" with a 2" extension, so I could wear it short or long. But the price was certainly more than I would have liked for a piece so simple and lightweight (in other words, not a lot of gold). With the gift card I won, I decided to go for it and try it at home with tops I had in mind. Here, I wore it short with a off-the-shoulder top and wore it long with a stripe top and faux-leather topper.

I do like the look of it, but I'm not sure it's worth the $200. What do you think of the necklace? Should I keep it?
