DIY: Natural Bug Spray

Hello friends, it's officially summer!

Can you believe it? July 4th is literally right around the corner! As you spend more time outdoors in your new summer dresses (extra 25%  off sale at Anthropologie!), hanging out by the pool, or barbecuing, don't let those bug bites ruin all the fun! Just the other day, I was in the backyard for less than 20min and got 4 mosquito bites on the same arm! So today, I'm making a natural bug spray at home and sharing it with you.

  • A spray bottle (I'm using a 3 oz one from Target)
  • 1 fl oz of water
  • 1 fl oz of vinegar
  • Essential oils (20 drops each):
    • Lavender
    • Geranium
    • Tea tree
    • Rosemary
  • Pour in water first, then vinegar.
  • Add drops of essential oils.

  • Essential oils are a staple at my house and we've been using the doTerra brand for years. They are expensive, but really worth the investment!
  • In addition to the essential oils above, you can also use Sandalwood, Eucalyptus, Peppermint etc.
  • You will smell the vinegar when you apply it, but it goes away quickly and you'll only be able to smell the essential oils after.
  • Instead of vinegar, you can also use alcohol (vodka works too), vegetable glycerin or witch hazel to help preserve it.
  • Store it in the fridge to keep it fresh and extra cooling.
  • The oils will settle on the top, so give it a good shake before using it.
  • Remember to label it (optional: produced date), so other people in your household can use it too.
So there you have it, a natural bug spray that will keep the bugs from bugging your this summer!

Thank you for stopping by and have a great day!
