Can you believe it? July 4th is literally right around the corner! As you spend more time outdoors in your new summer dresses (extra 25% off sale at Anthropologie!), hanging out by the pool, or barbecuing, don't let those bug bites ruin all the fun! Just the other day, I was in the backyard for less than 20min and got 4 mosquito bites on the same arm! So today, I'm making a natural bug spray at home and sharing it with you.
- A spray bottle (I'm using a 3 oz one from Target)
- 1 fl oz of water
- 1 fl oz of vinegar
- Essential oils (20 drops each):
- Lavender
- Geranium
- Tea tree
- Rosemary
- Pour in water first, then vinegar.
- Add drops of essential oils.
- Essential oils are a staple at my house and we've been using the doTerra brand for years. They are expensive, but really worth the investment!
- In addition to the essential oils above, you can also use Sandalwood, Eucalyptus, Peppermint etc.
- You will smell the vinegar when you apply it, but it goes away quickly and you'll only be able to smell the essential oils after.
- Instead of vinegar, you can also use alcohol (vodka works too), vegetable glycerin or witch hazel to help preserve it.
- Store it in the fridge to keep it fresh and extra cooling.
- The oils will settle on the top, so give it a good shake before using it.
- Remember to label it (optional: produced date), so other people in your household can use it too.
Thank you for stopping by and have a great day!
