I'm back! I'm back! I've just been so lazy and tired to do anything else besides sleeping, Netflix and a little shopping (always!) due to all the traveling. But I'm really excited to bring you today's post!
As you know, Nordstrom Rack is one of my favorite places to shop. I love the treasure-hunt feel; you just never know what's waiting for you in store. So today, I'm sharing with you some of my favorite Nordstrom Rack finds recently, my experience shopping at the Last Chance Clearance Store (Phoenix, AZ) last week, and what I got!
A few terms to know in case you are not familiar with Nordstrom Rack:
- Nordstrom Rack: An off-price retail division of Nordstrom (shop online here or find a store near you here).
- Red Tag: Clearance items with price tags in red, which get further discount during Clear the Rack.
- Clear the Rack: Additional discount (usually extra 25%) off red-tag clearance items. It's been going on almost every month!
- Worn and Refinished: Almost new (tried on or display) or gently worn items that are professionally cleaned and refinished (if needed). I've mostly seen this label on shoes, marked down to at least 67% off retail price.
- Penny Deal: From what I can find online, items will be marked down to a penny in the system, if they've been in stock for too long. Sales associates are supposed to scan the floor regularly and pull them out of inventory to send to the Last Chance Clearance Store. These items, however, won't list $0.01 on the price tag (as you'll see below). If a customer finds these items before they are pulled, Nordstrom Rack will honor the price. You just scored yourself a Penny Deal!
Let's start with this pair of Stuart Weitzman Morepearls Sandal (I mentioned the suede version in my Fall Transitional Shoe Picks). I've had them on my Nordstrom wishlist FOR MONTHS (still full-price), so you can imagine my excitement (I squealed!) when I found them in my size at Nordstrom Rack on Black Friday.
Well, they were "worn and refinished", but they look fairly new to me except the soles were painted black. I wasn't gonna pass them up at 69% off!
My luckiest Nordstrom Rack find goes to this pair of Valentino Rockstud lace-up gladiator sandal that I paid a penny for! I've read about people scoring these penny deals at Nordstrom Rack all the time and never thought this would happen to me one day. The sale price wasn't bad (additional 30% off red-tag for Black Friday), but a penny for a pair that was originally over $1000? I just won a shoe lottery!
You are greeted by piles of shoes as soon as you walk down the stairs:
- First and foremost, all sales are final - no returns or exchanges.
- It's down in the basement; you probably won't get cell service.
- Make sure you have enough time and lots of patience.
- Items are organized by type, then by size. Designers are mixed with other brands. Depending on when you go, the racks can be very organized or total madness. Hence, the last tip!
- I went around 7PM all 3 times and it wasn't crazy. But I heard there's always a line in the morning. People line up around 9:30AM for the 10AM store-opening.
Just another day scrolling through the shoe racks:
You can never get to the bottom of this handbag mountain:
- Take advantage of the shopping carts/baskets, but always keep an eye on your stuff.
- Bathroom: There's no bathroom inside, but you can find them up the escalator.
- Fitting rooms: There are only 9 fitting rooms (with curtains); you might have to wait in line if they are busy.
- Holds: They can hold your cart up to 10min!
- Shoes: Check the soles. The condition ranges from practically new, "worn and refinished", to definitely worn.
- Double, triple check it's good condition and not missing anything. I've seen so many sweaters with holes, trench coats without belts, and cute Ted Baker bags with broken clasps.
- They are constantly restocking, so keep checking back!
- Bring water and a snack if you plan on being there for a while.
- Grab now, decide later - If you think you might want it, grab it! Chances are you probably won't find it again later.
- Wear crossbody bags or backpacks so that you can shop hands free.
- Slip-on shoes make it easier to try on shoes.
- Wear base-layers (tank tops, T-shirts) so that you can try tops, sweaters, jackets or coats without going to a fitting room.
- Lastly, I can't imagine I would be saying this one day (and I'm totally padding myself on the back right now) - Just because it's a good deal doesn't mean you need to buy it. I left behind a pair of Kate Spade ($16!!!) and a pair of SJP ($60) that I wasn't totally in love with.
Personally, I had really good luck with shoes here, but not much with clothes and handbags. If you love shoes or have smaller feet like me, I think you'll love this place! I heard they have different promotions going on all the time. Last week, it was "75% off women's boots size 6 1/2 and under" (excludes UGG's and designer).
Here are all the goodies (just shoes) I picked up last week. I've also linked what's still available or similar online, if you are interested in any of them.
Loeffler Randall Saskia Sandal:
- Original: $250
- Leather upper & lining, rubber sole.
- I've seen this at Nordstrom Rack for ~$100 and couldn't justify the price. So happy to add these to my collection and can't wait to wear them next year!
- Multiple sizes available via 6PM ($87.99), Saks Fifth Avenue ($100), Revolve ($120), and The Outnet ($125).
- Original: $149
- Leather upper & lining, synthetic sole.
- I've seen and tried on this in Aubergine (It comes in other colors!) at Nordstrom Rack before. I believe it was $50 - 60 back then. This gunmetal color looks great for the holidays!
- Multiple sizes available on Amazon ($63.69 - $125).
Kenneth Cole New York Saturn Ballet Flat:
- Original: $99
- Leather upper & lining, manmade sole.
- You might be surprised to find that I didn't have a pair of basic black flats and was totally on the hunt for one!
- Available in blue and limited sizes at Nordstrom Rack ($44.55).
So that wraps up my latest shoe purchases from Nordstrom Rack and Last Chance!
What do you think about Last Chance? Will you go visit next time you are in Pheonix?
