Since I barely posted last year, I thought it would be fun to catch you up on my shopping adventures! ;) The holiday sales are getting better and better every year in my opinion and it's so hard to resist! Nonetheless, I'm happy with what I got these last few months and I think I got some really good deals too! :)
Okay, technically October isn't the holidays, but it just happens that's when I bought this bag! This exact color combo is sold out, but you can still it in other colors (linked below).
MCM Medium Liz Reversible Shopper ($650):
I've had my eyes on this bag ever since seeing it in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale catalog in August. I love the red with white logo, which looks very "Supreme" and perfect for the holidays. I also like that it comes with a pouch, very similar to my Louis Vuitton Neverfull. They were only 33% off at the time, which I thought was still a little high. I really wanted to see it in person, but they were IMPOSSIBLE to track down.
Fast forward to October, I had some time to stop by the Orlando Premium Outlet when I was in the area for work. I've never been to a MCM outlet before, but there it was and 40% off! Tax was lower, too. I used it as my carry-on bag on the way back and got so much use out of it during the holidays! It's functional, durable, and the size is very similar to the Neverfull. I highly recommend it as a more affordable option!
Nordstrom has their designer sales twice a year, one around March/April and one in November. These are not set dates, ask a sales associate or check online for exact dates. There were so many goodies in the sale, but I only got two:
Burberry Rainbow Stripe Vintage Check Scarf ($390):
I've had the classic camel color cashmere scarf for a few years. It's so iconic, classic, and really elevates an outfit. But this year, I've been looking for something a little more flowy and casual.
This lightweight wool/silk blend scarf totally fits the bill and I love the unexpected rainbow stripe. I've tried it on in person and had it on my wishlist since spring. When I saw it was on sale for 40% off (unfortunately no longer on sale), it was a no brainer! Because it's so lightweight, I think it would be a good year-round piece compared to the classic cashmere scarf, which is more fall/winter in my opinion. I've worn it a few times already and can't wait to wear it more in spring/summer!
Salvatore Ferragamo Capua Pump ($675):
Okay, call me crazy, but I'm that kind of person -- If I made a very expensive purchase, I have to admire it and let it sit for a while before using it. It's almost like, it's too precious to be used! It's funny that I'm more that way with shoes than bags and I do agree that I'm more of a bags person. But in my mind, shoes just get dirty, whereas bags are meant to be used. So... I haven't worn these, but here they are!
This exact color combo is no longer available, but I've linked other colors above.
There were so many cute shoes in the sale and I had my eyes on some Jimmy Choo's, Aquazzura, and Chloe ones. But when it comes down to it, I chose this pair.
Ever since I dipped my toe into the luxury world, I've known Salvatore Ferragamo to make classic, beautiful, and great quality shoes (even though I didn't own any). When I saw this pair on the sales rack, I knew it was the one (except not in my size! More on that later). It's classic and I love the rich color and contrast with the gold heel. It's also a good height for me, not too high. It was a BIG SPLURGE for me even at 40% off, but I thought it's a timeless style that would last me for years to come.
Tracking down my size has been a real struggle. My usual size is IT 36/US 6. They only had size 5 on the rack, which I tried on and was too small. I asked them to check size 6 and it was sold out. A few days later, I saw size 6 was in stock online and ordered immediately. But when I received them, I got one shoe in 6 and the other in 6.5! I can't believe the person who packaged them didn't notice they weren't a pair?! Well, at least I got to try them both, but they were both too big! At this point, I believe my size should be 5.5, but again, nowhere to be found. I pretty much gave up and thought "I guess I'll save my money." Then a few days later, they came back in stock and they were perfect! I guess the moral of the story is, figure out your size before the sales if you can. Also, inventory changes all the time during the designer sale, keep checking back online or calling the stores.
Yves Saint Laurent card holder ($275):
This was an unexpected purchase from Black Friday. I've been wanting a YSL card holder forever, but I just couldn't decide on a color. When I saw this fuchsia color (love me a pop of color!) and on sale for ~$200 from SSense, I was sold! I've only used it once so far and I love it!
PS: SSense is based in Canada, fast two-day shipping to U.S. and free returns.
PPS: Did YSL just have a price increase? I swear the card holders were $250 last time I looked at them!
Burberry Lorne Bucket Black Leather Cross-body Bag (Retails $895):
This was my Christmas present to myself from Cabazon. It was another unexpected purchase, but it's so darn cute and I didn't have a bucket bag. My mom also got a few things, so we qualified for the biggest discount of their tier system, 30%. This bag came out to be ~$500 after all the discounts. The Haymarket check is canvas and the rest is black leather.
I've been wearing this bag almost every day, since I got it. It's a good size, durable, and I love cross-body bags! Highly recommend if you can still get one from the outlet.
Alexander McQueen Starlight Skull Silk Bandana (Retails $180):
If you are ever in Orange County, definitely check out Nordstrom Rack Metro Pointe! It's down the street from South Coast Plaza and right by Karl Strauss, another micro brewery I love. They have a huge selection of designer pieces compared to other Nordstrom Racks. This is one of my favorites from the last Clear the Rack:
I've been loving Alexander McQueen more, since Sarah Burton became the Creative Director. Her designs are a little more feminine and cheerful, which is more wearable for me.
I already checked out and was on my way out, when this skull scarf caught my eye. I thought to myself, what are the chances it's Alexander McQueen? Not only was I right, it was totally a steal at $34!! I couldn't believe my eyes! I haven't worn it yet, because it's just been so cold lately. But I think it'll be another good year-round piece to edge up an outfit.
I hope this was interesting for you getting a glimpse of my style (classic with some edge) and what designer pieces I like to splurge on (accessories!). And yes, this is where the money I got back from Ebay and Poshmark went...
What do you think of my purchases? Is any of them on your wishlist? Speaking of wishlist, I definitely plan on doing a 2019 Luxury Wishlist very soon!
Thank you so much for stopping by! Have a nice day and wonderful week! I'll see you next week! :)
