This week felt incredibly long. Work was not bad, but I felt overwhelmed just thinking about what to pack for my trip next week, which lasts almost 3 weeks! The last trip that lasted this long was also when I went to China with my family 3 years ago. So it's been a while since I packed for longer trips. I'm sure I'll feel better once I actually start packing.
But today, I will be sharing with you what I picked up during the Sephora VIB Sale (read my wishlist and recommendations here). I got a few items that were not on my wishlist, but things have also been selling out so quickly! I shopped at Sephora inside JCPenney (abbreviated as SIJ below), which does carry everything I need, but a lot smaller than Sephora. I'm too scared to go into Sephora nowadays, knowing I'll be tempted to get too many things that I probably won't end up using. After all, when you see other people buying bags and bags of products, how can you not be curious and get one for yourself? The other thing I like about SIJ is their own version (sometimes even better value!) of Sephora Favorites sets and I'll show you the ones I've found in store. Lastly, I will be sharing with you two brands being discontinued at SIJ (one still available at Sephora) so that you can score some major discounts!
This haul is from Thursday and yesterday at two different SIJ's and one item I ordered online. I'm planning on stopping by Nordstrom today to try the Matte Revolution Lipstick in Pillow Talk and Instant Look in a Palette (Nordstrom-exclusive), recently released from Charlotte Tilbury. There's also a SIJ in that shopping mall, so I might take a look there too :P
Enough chatting (I didn't even have coffee!) and let's dig into the goodies! :)
I purchased these on Thursday and received my VIB Rouge shopping tote. I'm sure you've recognized some of them on my wishlist, the ones were not are (clockwise):
- Bite Beauty Agave Lip Balm ($18): I love using their lip mask ($26) at night and now I can carry this in my bag! It is still very moisturizing (like the mask), but less thick.
- SUNDAY RILEY Luna Sleeping Night Oil ($55 for 0.5oz, $105 for 1oz): I recommend this set ($85) if you are new to the brand, but personally, this oil was my favorite! SIJ only carries 0.5oz in stores and 1oz is online only.
- Formula X nail polishes in Alive and TGIF ($5 each): Nail swatches below, since I don't have any nail polishes on.
- Josie Maran Argan Liquid Gold Self-Tanning Oil ($38): They were out of the regular "Vanilla Apricot" scent, so I got "Juicy Mango".

Formula X on sale at SIJ |
The only item I ordered online is this Slip Silk Sleepmask in Black ($45), which is sold out in most colors except gold and navy (new!). Anthropologie also carries them in 3 colors online and if you completed their member survey (sent out earlier this week), you should have a code for 20% off full-price purchase (online and in stores) until 4/30. I understand $45 for a silk eye mask is still a lot of money, even on sale. I have received and used mine. The quality is great and really comfortable to sleep with. No doubt I will be sleeping with it on the plane and taking it to China. I really wish it would come with a pouch to carry it in (especially considering the price), which would make it traveling with it much easier. Nonetheless, I still think this is worth the investment. I recommend getting it in a darker color, so there won't be any obvious stains in case any remaining makeup or face oil rubs off on it. I would also like to get the matching silk pillowcase ($99) one day, but my current one is literally a piece of silk fabric that my mom sewed together and it does the job.
Next, I will be showing you a few SIJ-exclusive sets. Unfortunately, these sets are not available on SIJ online, so I've listed similar sets at Sephora next to it.
Sephora Favorites Sun Safety Kit ($26); Similar: Sephora's version ($32) |
Left: Sephora Favorites Let Love Glow ($42); Similar: Sephora's Quench Your Skin set ($48) Right: boscia Japanese Favorites set ($35, not available at Sephora) |
Sephora Favorites Give Me Summer Lips ($28, not available at Sephora)
I've found Love, Bite Lip Set ($42), which is out of stock online at Sephora, at SIJ, but again, not SIJ online.
Also, this Sephora Favorites Beauty After Last Call ($22) is on sale for a great price and still available!
If you are going to a SIJ today, there's a Benefit event from 12 - 5PM:
|
Large selection of Vita Liberata products being discontinued. |
Left to right: pHenomenal 2-3 Week Tan Mousse ($21.99, reg $54); Fabulous Self Tanning Gradual Lotion with Marula Oil ($12, reg $30); Trystal Self Tanning Bronzing And Kabuki Brush Duo ($22.99, reg $55) |
They are not on sale on SIJ online for some reason, so check your local SIJ stores. Some of the products were still full price when the sales associate rang me up and she had to manually change the prices, so check your prices if you are getting any. Vita Liberata is still available (at full-price) at Sephora.
I'm debating if I should return the Josie Maran self-tanning oil shown earlier (from Thursday), since I bought Vita Liberata yesterday. But Vita Liberata did not come with a tanning mitt and Josie Maran did. I also really like their mitt. very soft and plush. but most importantly black. Either I'll be super bronzed this summer or I'll just return Josie Maran and buy a mitt.
As mentioned in the "Shopping Tips" section, I bought digital JCPenney gift cards online to purchase these and saved another 11% on top of my 15% VIB Rouge discount.
Thank you for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your weekend! :)
