Work has been quite stressful these last two weeks, sorry for being MIA! I'm in D.C. for the Fourth, so I obviously had to do a festive mani. I didn't want to go all out with the stars and stripes. Well, they also look harder to do on both hands. After a quick Google search, I came across this Patriotic Spot design, which is more toned-down and much easier to do. But knowing me, I had to jazz it up with some sparkles! So here's the finished look:
Background: Austin Bergstrom International Airport |
- Base coat and top coat, I'm using:
- NAILS INC. NAILKALE Superfood Base Coat ($15)
- Gel Effect Top Coat (discontinued), they now have 45 Second Top Coat with Kensington Caviar ($15)
- White: I'm using China Glaze "White on White" ($7.50)
- Red: I'm using OPI "Color So Hot it Berns" ($7.85)
- Blue: I'm using Sally Hansen "Pacific Blue" ($4.44)
- Silver: I'm using Savina "Silver Shadow"
- Holographic Glitter: I'm using Fing'rs "On a Silver Platter"
- Dotting tool ($1.93): If you don't have one, a toothpick or bobby pins work as well.
- Cut your nails to desired length.
- Apply base coat.
- Apply white polish, I used two coats to achieve total opacity.
- Starting with the darkest color (in this case, blue), drip a little polish onto a sheet of paper. Dip the dotting tool into the polish and apply onto your nails.
- Wait for the dots to dry before moving to the next color.
- Continue adding dots of different sizes and colors, focusing on the edge of the nail and fewer toward the cuticle.
- For some extra bling, add holographic glitter! Dab a few drops of the holographic glitter top coat, or use loose glitter.
- Once you'are happy with the design, apply a generous amount of top coat to seal it in!
I hope you'll give this easy and festive mani a go this July 4th! Have a wonderful weekend!
