My Vitamin Routine

Hello friends, I thought it would be interesting to show you my vitamin routine today.

In addition to eating healthier, exercising daily (most of the time), I also take vitamins. I would like to share with you what vitamins I'm taking and how I take them. I'm not implying if you need vitamins or what vitamins. If you want to learn more about vitamins and what they do for you, I recommend Dr. Low Dog's Fortify Your Life: Your Guide to Vitamins, Minerals, and More (previously mentioned in Mother's Day Gift Guide), which I find very informative and helpful. Here's everything I'm taking at a glance:

  • I go for the NatureMade brand, not only because it's easy to get from Costco. I had my first internship was at their packaging site and met many wonderful people I still keep in touch with today. I occasionally get them at a discount from my contacts, but there are so many brands out there you can choose from.
  • NatureMade vitamins contain non-vegan ingredients (such as gelatin), something to note if you are vegan or vegetarian.
  • I take most of them with a meal. If I'm eating out or traveling, I'll carry them with me in these humangear GoTubb containers ($6.95).

  • Take: one tablet of multi-vitamin.
  • The one I'm taking exports to Japan, so you won't be able to find it in the market. But any multi-vitamin would work.

  • Take: one tablet of NATUREMADE Vitamin D3 1000 IU.
  • When I had my physical exam last time, I was found to be vitamin D deficient . After taking a higher dosage (4000 IU, then 2000 IU) for a few month, I've reduced to 1000 IU now.
  • You can also get vitamin D from the sun by being outside. But I never leave the house without sunscreen, unless it's after 4 PM. I'd rather take supplements than having any slight chance of developing wrinkles or sun spots.
  • Vitamin D needs to be taken with oil/fats, so pick a meal that works for you. I tend to eat more and have more fats at lunch than at dinner, which is why I take it with lunch.

One thing I'm not taking at the moment is Magnesium Citrate (also taken at bedtime), because I ran out and haven't gotten more. I'm currently getting my Magnesium from nuts (almonds, almond butter, cashews etc.) and cocao (powder, nibs and dark chocolate!).

So these are all the vitamins I'm taking, certainly a handful! Do you take any dietary supplements?

Thank you for stopping by and have a great day! :)
